Somephoenics – Meaning of the band name
The meaning of the band name allows some interpretation, because on the one hand there is the English word “some” and the greek word “phono” (which means: sound, tone, noise), which together would mean “some music” or “some sounds.” On the other hand “phoenics” suggests the phoenix of Greek mythology, which is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. According to some sources, the phoenix dies in a show of flames and combustion, although there are other sources that claim that the legendary bird dies and simply decomposes before being born again. This metaphor means that rock music will never die and will always exist in refreshed ways, although current mainstream music trends toward electric pop.
In the beginning their songs contained more classic rock, punk and grunge parts and over time they picked up more metal, hardcore and emo elements, so you can say the songs became harder.
